Welcome to the Waipi`o Valley cultural history website. This site was created by the Center for Hawaiian and Pacific Anthropology at the Bernice P. Bishop Museum to publicize our latest research on the wahi pana, or storied place, that is Waipi`o.

At this site you can:

Kalo Lo`i

The dramatic walls of Waipi`o Valley are mirrored by its long, storied history. It's floor is covered by ancient kalo lo`i, heiau, and fishponds. But it is also home to historic structures from the mid-1800's when new crops like rice were introduced to Hawai`i.

We invite you to share the CHPA resources about one of the most important geographic areas in the Hawaiian Archipelago.
