Search Hints

Search fields are not case sensitive.  Searches can be conducted on complete or incomplete entries. For example entering, "Xanthidae", "xanthid", or "xan" in Family field will return all species in Xanthidae, or entering "thor" in species field will return Thormora atrata, Epitonium thorssoni, Thor paschalis, Scrupocellaria ornithorhynchus, etc.  The Biogeog. status search field is included to locate introduced (i.e., nonindigenous or alien) or cryptogenic species in the list. A search solely on Biogeog. status "introduced" will return all species thought to be introduced to the Hawaiian Islands. All other species in the list are currently listed as "native" meaning either indigenous or endemic. This distinction will be made in future versions of the checklist.
