The Bishop Museum's Hawaiian and Pacific Studies Department has created this searchable annotated bibliographic database to assist anyone interested in learning more about the cultural history of the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands. This online database is made possible by support of the National Ocean Service, part of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

The resources catalogued here primarily are available in the Bishop Museum's Library and Archives, the libraries at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa, and the State of Hawaii Archives.

Searches may be by author's name, island name, or by other keywords (e.g. birds, marae, archaeology, or Kalakaua)

Note on orthography: It is difficult to create standardized, aesthetically pleasing, and correct web pages that use proper Hawaiian diacriticals. As such, this database lacks okinas and kahakos. We apololgize for any confusion that this creates.
