Polynesia; USA; Hawaiian Islands; Hawaii; Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Drive to end of Mauna Loa Strip Road (ca. 10 mi.). Walk ca. 0.5 mi. up Mauna Loa Summit Trail to 2030 m. elev., just before fence with gate. Plant was ca. 20 m. to left of trail; a small lava tube at left of trail (plot 17)
